How It Works

Click anywhere on the map to place waypoints. The tool supports two measurement modes:

• Crow-flies: Straight-line great-circle distance using the Haversine formula. Instant, no internet required beyond the map tiles.
• Road: Actual driving distance along roads fetched from the OSRM routing engine (uses OpenStreetMap data). The road route is drawn as a solid line on the map.

The elevation profile samples terrain height at ~60 points along your route using the ASTER 30m global elevation dataset via opentopodata.org. Elevation gain and loss are shown in the chart header.

Tips

• Add up to 25 waypoints for multi-leg routes.
• Use Undo to remove the last point without clearing everything.
• Switch between Crow-flies and Road mode at any time without losing your waypoints.
• Toggle km / mi to convert all distances instantly.
• Scroll to zoom; drag to pan; click the zoom controls for precise adjustments.
